Unleaded is good without that lube rubbish ! That will just foul up your plugs as it tends to concentate in the bottom of your fuel tank .The SR valves/seats are fairly hard & can handle it OK but it may ping if you don't drop a gear going uphill . Oh yeah , use only BP! Cheers Dave.

Yes, you can run the SRs on unleaded OK. The engines have all been made from new to do so... SR

I use Delo silver or 500(its a diesel oil but good for SR500s) Other guys just use 20w50 as some of the U bute friction modifieds do just what you are experiencing ,good luck !Cheers Dave.

I use Mobil Delvac 1300 Super in 15w40 wt. for the same reason. No friction modifiers. Here is a list of various diesel oils that do not contain friction modifiers that should work well in a SR.
Castrol RX Super 15w40 Chevron Delo 400 15w40 Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15w40 Pennzoil Long Life 15w40 Quaker State 4X4 Synthetic Blend 15w40 Shell Rotella-T 15w40 SuperTech 2000 15w40 (Walmart) Valvoline All Fleet 15w40 Castrol Syntec Blend Truck & 4X4 15w40
These are all available in the U.S. but I'm not sure about other countries.

hi all iv changed oil...castrol(dont remember the numbers ..but will post if any one wants to know) seems to have done the trick.. no slip or drag so far.. i also punched out the last bafle in my silencer ..the diference is amazing....after much experimentation i raised the needle in the carb to the second to the last notch to richen her up a bit and she is going and sounding much better..tho i doubt the police would agree.lol.also gone from a 15 tooth front sprocket to a 17...altho she is still getting very!! hot on idle...(any suggestions welcome) on a diferent tac.....i rode out to molong nsw on sunday with the ulysses for the motorcycle awarenes run..it was a great day...and i came across this beast....ill try and track down the owner iv seen this bike many times over the years ..but never met the builder...does any one know this guy?

15-17 would make a bit of a difference?I sorta found that equasion too, more front sprocket teeth-less baffles ,hence faster & louder (Einstein would be so proud!) Cheers Dave.

Stock front is 16 & rear is supposed to be a 44(most guys inc me prefer a 42) ,with this setup the engine will sit nicely at 5000rpm at 110kph.If you go for more on the front you've got to play with chains aswell ,you can go to 17 on the front but only on a no O ring chain so most go to the 520 chain .This opens up another world of sprockets to play with & a bit more expense will start to creep into the equasion .If you've got a few SR500s you can do a bit of mix & match ,if you haven't all the failures end up in the parts box.One of my best aquisitions has been a hospital bed(paid $75 for) I made a lifting table out of that & my first failed lifting table & now I can work on my bikes from 400mm to 800mm .Makes all tasks so much easier ,cheers Dave

I've got the name of the bloke here. He is in the SR500 club. I thought that you were him originally. Just goes to show. He lives in Orange, but I don't know where. The SR500 rally's on next weekend. I reckon he'll be there. He was at it last year.
