Hi all,
Here the rules;
1. The bike must have been a production, or limited production model comercially available to the public. So no one off or home made specials.
2. You have to justify the nomination in some way.
3. Remember a picture is worth a thousand words, so if you can, post a picture.

I don't think I will be the only one to nominate the Honda CX500, every variant of this bike was ugly even the turbo. They all looked as if they had been designed by a group of people who each had a section to design but they never discussed any of it with each other.
Cheers Rich

Yes I agree the CX 500 was the worlds most ugliest motor cycle by far . They were pigs to ride , they actually perfomed differently into left & right corners ( it was that centrifugal force coupled with the shaft drive eeerrrh) I think, but its only my opinion, and I may upset some people , I'd like to exchange the coolant for hydochloric acid to rid the world of them . They are the cane toad of the motocycle world . Now for the worst bike I've ever owned , had to be my XT550 (hmm they weren't around long I wonder why) . Sorry Col no pictures are available. They are not even worthy of the KB space cheers Dave.

There's a CX with a fairing. Hrmm. Beautiful. I reckon I've seen uglier! The Ural Cossack boxer-engined cruiser is f****g ugly.

I kinda like the CX500 Turbo!
My nomination for the worlds ugliest would have to be the Amazon. It was a bike made in Brazil and used a VW air cooled motor. Not sure if any made it to the USA. I do remember a magazine article from the mid 80s that did a test on the bike. It stuck in my head as butt ugly and havent seen anything that compares. Couldnt find any pics on the net.

the ducati multistrada is the ugliest bike ever made, its like the frankensteins monster of concept bike, except its not a concept bike....aaaaaaarrgghhhhhhhhh!!! the "fairing" doesnt know where its supposed to be, the clearance from the back wheel to the seat could accomodate a small family of pygmies and ITS JUST NOT RIGHT!!! fugly fugly fugly!! I've gotta sick up for the old CX, as a ex courier through the eighties I clocked up 197,000 mile on my "Plastic maggot". only time it ever let me down was in Monaco on holiday when the CDI unit failed .Ha the French bike mechanics wouldn't even look at it saying its to old & dirty ,F--kin snobs .Luckily I had international breakdown cover so eventually the bike was shipped home to the UK it took over a month though .Actually I spotted it on the back of a truck when i was on my way to work on another CX (Borrowed ) The only other things that needed replacing were a water pump ,timing chain & tensioner (under Honda recall so cost nowt ) new piston rings at 120,000 miles and a couple of sets of fork seals and the UJ joint oh and rear shocks I don't think I ever cleaned the bike just sprayed it with WD40 regularly Eventually gave it to mate who was transport less at the time he used it for over a year before getting it nicked , the thieving B-----d crashed it & broke both wrists and his leg He He serves the Mother F----r right ;D I HATE BIKE THIEVES They should be nailed up by the balls LURCH

Hi all, After considering things over the weekend, here is my own nomination for Ugliest Bike, which is proof that even the maker of some of the best looking bikes can get it wrong. The 1966 MV Augusta 600. I think that it is the headlight arangement that does it for me. By the way, I have a soft spot for the Honda CX500, and I own two early 70's Cossack K650, altough they look a lot better than the chopper version. CJ

I suppose I am being a bit cruel to the old CX500 ,they did go & go thats for sure . If they made them as a deisel model just imagine how long one would actually last ? There was 2 in the sunday times this week . A standard 500 & a 650 ($1500 each) I'm not even tempted ! Col the MV would look OK with a few mods (SR tank&headlight) I'd take it if I was given it ! Cheers Dave.

The mulitstrada confuses me......one past me the other day, a black one, they look much better flying by. Though the rider looks more like a jockey on one of those two legged things from Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back.
Why didn't they go for something more traditional....like the Lucky Strike Elefant that won Dakar (under Cagiva though).
and why deosn't yamaha build a better dual sport again, like the original Tenere? They have so many "almost there" bikes, they could easily piece one with whatthey have in stock.
Ugly bikes - BMW's r1200c cruiser. I saw one with all the screens, and bits and pieces and dolled up it looked ugly as sin. I say that as an airhead fan aswell.....
Honda Spacey scooters come to mind aswell

There was a guy trying to get $4500Aus for a CX500 Turbo in last Sundays paper (it was listed as a "Rare Classic") .I just hope he wakes up from his dream ! I'd say he'll be owning it for a while . Dave.
