How do you ride on that Puch? It looks like the seat is on backwards.

Is that the correct spelling Puch it should be puke cause it makes me feel sick ! The CX500 is a flipping gem compared to that ! It must've been designed by that nutter that they arrested this week over there (the sick deranged man) cheers Dave.

Hey as a young lad I always thought the xj 750 was a bit off compared to how the 650 looked . Also the suzuki turbo about the same era I think they called it xn85 or something

Here's the reading of the add in The Sunday Times "COLLECTABLE"HONDA CX500 x 2. 80&81 (post vintage) liquid cooled Vee twins, shaft drive 1 licenced plus heaps of spares manuals complete, both $1600 ONO ph no etc . Now you would think ugly or not a bloody bargain . Lucky for me its not next door or I'd have to eat humble pie & add them to my "Collection" Hardy bloody har , maybe I should ring him & tell him I'll get them but they've got to both be full of gas! Cheers Dave

Honda CX500 with a nice seat - how could you call that ugly?? Fact is, they can also look pretty good! Here's the same bike modified And another www.flickr.com/photos/pampadori/2451611943/sizes/l/Perhaps it's all relative - as far as I can see with a number of 'naked bikes' these days, we're looking at engines that were designed with no intention of being seen, and then for sale's sake they decided to take the fairings of them.

That CX with all its plumbing actually suits that style very well: a kind of post-apocalyptic postman motorcycle.

You guys astound me. The CX500 may not be the worlds prettiest bike, but it ain't that ugly either. especially that cafe'd one that mattb just posted. Now, if you want to look for an ugly shaft drive v-twin I can't believe you leave out the Moto Guzzi Californian - that is truly ugly. Mick.

The CX500 may not be the worlds prettiest bike, but it ain't that ugly either. I must confess I actually like it. When buying my previous bike on a really tight budget (I had $700, a mate offered to loan me that much again) I was tossing up between a CX and a Kawasaki GT550. I couldn't find a CX but found a GT (which blew up eight months later!). Since that time I have looked with longing at the CX. Kind of the poor man's Guzzi, with the life-span of a BMW. I would buy one if I was looking for a second bike. It's related to point I'd often make to a Ducati mate who bags such bikes - and Japanese bikes in general - as having no character. If what he means is that it lacks 'personality', like the cool Italian tourist who charms the ladies, then sure he is right; but 'character' also has the sense of a man who's humble but reliable and upright, a sense of the word which I think denotes something far deeper. Of course it might be true that such a man also has a face like a frying pan!

MAtt, i have to confes -I'm with you there They're not without their charms This couple: www.motorcyclistonline.com/escape/epicrides/122_0104_moscow/index.htmlbought a well used one in 1983, rode it around the world for seven years, took it apart, stored it in a 31 foot, 35 yr old sailboat as they sailed for six years -rebuilt the corroded pile, and it started running again - then rode from Florida to Russia You have to give it a little respect at least - even if its not pretty
