Does anyone know if Thumperstuff in the U.S.A. is still in business? I've been trying to contact them because my old White Bros. headpipe has finally died. It cracked at the flange and they have them on their website and I want to order one.

I talked to Mark several months ago and no, he has no head pipe for the SR. White Bros stopped making them. He told me he was trying to find someone to make them for us but I don't think he has, as of yet. I ended up putting the stock exhaust back on. Bronson7

Today I received an E-mail from EVA motors in Holland and they will ship a nice BSA styled head-pipe to Canada for 171 Euros, which is about $250 Canadian. In the meantime I got the crack in my old White Bros. pipe welded where I work. It's not pretty but it works and the bike is running well again (no backfiring). The crack was about half way around the pipe right at the flange. G-Man had mentioned the Yamaha kit that's available, but I want a single walled pipe that breathes freely. The BSA styled one has an extra bend and tucks in closer to the engine.

Well, White Brothers no longer makes exhaust systems for the SR. However, I do now have the headpipes, $90 for bare metal, $130 for black ceramic coat, $180(!) for chrome. I'm looking into using a cheaper high temperature paint option. Supertrapp stopped making the muffler that White Brothers used. I'm working on something for that. Taking longer than I wanted it to. I also have a stock NEW Yamaha headpipe, $165. Too bad the original muffler is no longer available, but I do have one from Laser - Jama that is similar, but a bit lighter and will fit on the stock headpipe for $170.
Sorry that I am sometimes a bit hard to get ahold of... Mark ThumperStuff

Hi Guys, I have just been looking for a new exhaust system for my 1980 SR, and have found a company here in Australia called Overlander who claim to make a replica muffler and header pipe for the SR500.(in stainless). You can have a look at their site : www.dropbears.com/o/overlander/exhausts.htmI have a picture of the parts that they sent me, I don't know how to send the picture as part of this message. Maybe I can Email it if you want. The prices on their site are very cheap I think they are wrong, but even though it may be worth it I am thinking of ordering a set soon. I still have the original system on my bike and it is getting pretty bad! Cheers, MIkec

Hi, I was thinking that if you wanted a standard system you may get a good deal from Deus in Sydney...they may end up with a few standard systems (possibly new ones) sitting around from modified new 400's that'd probably be a straight fit...or even completely identical to a 500 one?
Just a thought...

I see headers for sale on Ebay all the time, but I went out and found an auto pipe bender here in So. Cal. that is able to bend heavy duty pipe. I had him bend one in the shape of the stock, add about a foot to the length, and create a good flange fit for the head for about 30 bucks. I then wrapped it in heat wrap, put a free flowing aftermarket muffler on it, and the pipe works great.
There is one for sale right now. I'll post it in the E-bay section

Let me know where you are and I'll be glad to pop over. I've only had the bike for three years, but it was my fathers before that - I've got a little experience on wrenching it.

Hi Guys,
I took delivery of my "Overlander" S/S replica muffler and header pipe.
It just bolted straight on, looks fab, sounds great (a little louder than original) and less than half the weight of the original, all for $545 Australian...
I have pics and can email them if anyone is interested.
Cheers, Mikec.
