Hi Marlon, That Over pipe is the same as Doug's pipe here in the ACT. Not a bad looking system and it has a sizeable diameter header as well...largest I've seen. Mostly a short pipe is for high RPM...of course that pipe has to be designed properly in the first place. From memory a good length for a 'generic' hight performance 500 single is around 48"...about the same length as the old Tingate pipes. How's your going now? SR

It's still holding up!
I've put a fair few k's on it since I rode it back from the KVR, and the coat hanger is still holding out well - it's just gotten to the stage where I'm sick of the sight of the d**n thing - falling off, or melting or whatever.
Plus, another excuse for a new toy. (If I don't have to sell my SR in the coming months - anyone want to buy a SR400?)

I do...........but i'm confused, if you dont have to sell your SR, does anyone want a 400? Do you have two now? You dont like you Deus SR now?
mmmmm, i probably shouldn't buy another one, since i have an sr250 that needs selling and an sr500 to get rego'd.......

Hi Marlon, Mate just hang on to it. In years to come you'll regret having sold it SR

Haha, sorry guys - job offer from America - dream job too - film and TV armourer. Supplying and training actors on how to safely use firearms on set. It's early days yet but if it follows through, I'm gone! (I'll buy me a Buell or something in California!)
And Milkman, Deus are back in my good books - a couple of times recently they've been bloody helpful!

Received a BSA style headpipe all the way from Vanem in Australia. Duty was 40CAD and it took about two weeks to get to Ontario, Canada. Sure looks good though. The old "White Bros" headpipe has pretty well had it after 20 plus years. Man..those Australians have all the cool parts.

Heh, heh...come over and check it out...on second thought wait until Summer. One of the SR riders here in the ACT has an Over pipe on his bike...massive header on that one! SR

From memory a good length for a 'generic' hight performance 500 single is around 48"...about the same length as the old Tingate pipes. How's your going now? SR From what I know of the flat track pipes for Yamaha 500 motors, the ideal length is 33" and the pipe diameter is 1 5/8". I measured one and it was also reinforced by the old Cycle articles by Gordon Jennings, that's what he found to work best. I ran an actual flat track pipe on one bike with a universal 4" Supertrapp alloy silencer, but it scraped a lot. A friend (excellent TIG welder too) and I built a high pipe for my present SR. We used mandrel bent tubing from JC Whitney, then had it chromed. Same deal, 33" long of 1 5/8" tubing. It looked good enough to get a card from some Supertrapp exec at Mid Ohio several years back. I used a cheap reverse cone megaphone type muffler with a straight thru fiberglass wrapped core. Too loud... Still no ideas on mufflers, maybe a cocktail shaker some time after I get back on the road again. mark - klx678
