Hi guys,
I have heard of 600cc kits for the 500s, does anyone know any details about them? The sort I am after I know comes with a new barrel, 95mm (or 94.75) piston, gaskets and small end bearing. If anyone has any pointers it would be much appreciated

Does anybody have any more details on these? Are they impossible to kick over?
I've got a SR400, which is just a sleeved down SR500 - I imagine it'd be possible with that?

Hallo 600 cc kits are also sold by EGU egu-motoren.de/onlineshop/motorenteile/yamaha/02c637987b0952a0d.phpi willl not say anything about the quality see the german srforum i guess it is better and cheaper to buy you self a new liner and piston and rebore/resleeve your cylindre and spindle the cases to the new liner. won`t be suprised if the vd and egu cylindre are from the same origin. see also www.sr-500.de/www.kedo.dealso sells stuf to convert your engine to 600cc or more hope it will help you best regards sjef

Hey Sjef, I didn't realise it was that easy - I thought it had to be bored out.
Whammo, easy way to get more power out of the slow bastard!
So it seems those 600cc barrels aren't all that good (I couldn't find anything negative, but I'm reading behind the lines here) That's a turd. I know there's some japanese barrels out there that look different to the ones I've seen. I might follow that up with Deus...

Hallo Marlon,
have a Daytona 546cc bigbore kit myself, excellent quality, reinforced cylinderwall, can take a liner till 95mm with no risk at all. comes with high comp JE piston and gaskets. i had my crank stroked till 92mm which also make 600cc. you also can try Vanem (good to do business with)
best regards
sjef

Thanks for your replys, sjef!
Sounds like that's the way to go. One more pestering question... how much did you spend? I've heard nothing but good things about Vanem - they seem to be the way to go.
That, a flat slide carby should make a little beast! (With a short range)
Next up will be figuring out how to stop the bastard properly!

Hi sjef,
So is it possible to get to 600cc with that daytona kit pistons and all without stroking? And are you advising to steer clear of those german barrels? Still trying to work out the best place where I can get everything to do the job.
Thanks everyone

Hallo, judge for yourself, here is a pic of a egu cilinder see also www.fleisspelz.de/motorang/egu600cc is no problem for the 546 Daytona bigbore kit but it will need a new liner and a 95mm piston or a 95mm bore with a nikasil coating. but i do not have any experience with that. when you decide to bore a original barrel to 95mm make sure ther are some studs placed to reinforce the barrel. best regards sjef

@ Marlon, at the time i had the import for Daytona sr500/w650 parts for the netherlands, so i just payed the import price ;D i have ordered some parts @ vanem : good to do business with. @ pablosrfivehundred miles motors doesnot supply a 691 kit, they will rebuild your 500cc engine to a 691cc for a nice amount of euros. best regards sjef BTW just remembered www.caferacer.com.au/used to have a 600 cc kit, quality should be oke.

Hey Sjef!
Thanks for that last link mate. Those fellas are in my state and might be worth giving a call.
Any other New South Welshmen dealt with these guys? I've heard good things about them on other forums...

Hi guys,
I have a 598cc SR engine that I built-up in 2001-2002. I picked up a 7mm under length conrod while in the US in 2001 and had a guy in Melbourne (AUS) stroke a crank 7mm using this rod to give a 91mm stroke. Combined with a 91.5mm piston that I had gives 598cc by my math. I still haven't had the engine running as I havn't descided on what cam I am going to put into the engine. Hopefully I will finish this engine in the not to distant future and it will be "wheelie" good.
