Dave I think the guys using alloy sprockets are mostly motocross guys who go through a lot of chain/sprocket sets anyway so why not go light weight. Then again I think it's AFAM who give a lifetime warranty on their alloy sprockets. So who knows I am going to give chaingang a try and will report on how they pull up. Cheers Rich

Rich , thats what I thought , motocross guys replace chains, sprockets & rebuild motors like there's no tomorrow so the ks don't worry them as the dirt/grit stuffs them anyway. I've nearly solved my search though ,Hank from Hertmotorcycles has found me a steel one for $60 & a wrecker has got one for me (so I think I'll get them both, one for Ron, late R on) As I said 8 more will come in tomorrow ha .Cheers Dave.

but you will pay....like the $70 porsche adjusters that are actually $17 retail, like I said, any bike shop, 520 chain,Supersprox brand, A1 accessories in QLD, the cross reference was I think WR400F, same old deal, no one listens to me, no one supported me , then comes along "blow ins" like someone in lane cove, and you all rush to give them your money and say online that they are the business.......Curly's woken up to that farce and the other big one that we all know...............one day..............see you at my shop tomorrow curly. cheers.

Hi Carl
The first contact I made was following your suggestion, I visited my local Yamaha dealer first about supersprox then when that was no good any 17/40 sprockets, nil result. I then emailed supersprox direct and yes they gave me the YZF400 reference but no good with the sizes. Chaingang were the only ones able to supply the sizes I needed. If I could buy them off of you I would but given that I can't, don't go off that you are not being supported. I happily bought all my engine parts off you and the would like you to tune the bike for me once it is all together.

Well I was only after a 42 tooth sprocket , I didn't realise I was opening a can of worms he he! I'm getting a 42 off Two Wheel Wreckers in Perth ! He found a new one in the bottom of a box for $50 delivered & Hank hasn't answered yet ,so I should have what I want by Tuesday. So I got inspired last night & fitted my front wirey with my new tyre & got all the brakes working.(how simple it is when you use bolt on SR400 bits?) It took me an hour & a half.Still, it looks like its going to cost me $1500 all up for the conversion .But I will have some spare hydraulics for my other unfinished projects(I need a master on 1 & a caliper on the other) & I needed tyres on the bike anyway ,so all is good ,I may be finished by next weekend. Cheers Dave.

Curly saw the 40 tooth supersprox sprockets [4] on the wall on thurs and laughed, Stew phones me and orders and pays for everything over the phone by Visa, then the magic aussie post express bage shortens the gap from Wattle flat to canberra to nil, [ clever man that Stew fella] and recently Greg Perry from canberra realized my wife [ who lives in ACT] was coming up and hooked up a trailer in red hill, bike done and re delivered in just over a day!! magic eh.

As 42 = 3*14 why not buy a good quality chainwheel from another bike and simply make it fit the SR hub?

yamaha banshee 520 sprockets are the same pattern, i am fitting a 44T with a 17T front. The 520 fronts are AFAM and also fit suzukis and yamaha variious models, you dont need any spacer mods because the centre boss of the sprocket is the same thickness as the original 530. Try the AFAM website www.dc-afam.com, have a good look for the pdf downloads which give all sprocket specs. Hope this helps

Well I ended up with 2 sprockets ,1 from Two Wheel Wreckers in Perth(brand new) & 1 from Hank at Hertmotorcycle Engineering(his was actually a JT).So all is good & the conversion is nearly completed & I may just finish it this weekend with a bit of luck ! So I can close the book on this for now so thanks for all the help on this one, cheers Dave.
