I know devastated!!! Gonna try for April for Maldives. That said have booked and paid for Japan Snow trip in January so that is definitely happening. YAY! Green Island is in NSW South Coast. Ranked as 9th best wave in OZ. It is a very very very long left hander with a 30 minute paddle to get to the break. We scored it at a solid 5-6 foot. Cranking Thigh burner over reef. Absolutely sensational but very very cold. Like negative 600 degrees. Ordered my Pod Filter Kit so should be here soon. Yuppers Quite Happy.

Ok... Here are the latest pics of my SR... I have now changed the airbox for a pod filter, rejetted carb, put on vintage light, small dials, adjusted the instrument panel to suit, insulated header pipe (sorry Marlon), plus all previous changes... seat, bars, rear light, indicators, etc etc. The bike is running like a dream, has a beautiful thump, and is a joy to ride. Everyone that sees it has to stop and chat... Girls, and boys alike. Adrian at Vanem has been amazing plus thanks to everyone on this site for all your help. Gotta say even the boys at Deus have been awesome despite the bad press they get on this site. All I gotta do now is fabricate my surf rack and then my bike is gonna be the perfect bike (for me) Enjoy the pics Solo

Well done with the SR...coming to the rally?...or the KVR? I find both Vanem and Deus are good to deal with. SR

looks great! though from what i've been told (cause i did it) you might want to loose the wrapping around the header pipe if you dont want to destroy the engine. Perhaps somebody else can elaborate?

Looks great!I cant wait to see the surf rack! What you need to do is make up some spiggots that mount to the bike permanently & the racks need to just slip in & clip into place with some fish pins.I had some on a bike & you hardly even noticed them when the rack was taken off! You could also maybe start the bike before you put on the rack if it was quick to do? Cheers Dave.

Thanks for tips on surf rack... I once did a similar thing for my pushy so gonna basically copy my original design which worked a treat.
Re: Header pipe wrap what do people think about the possible engine damage situation? I love the look and wanna keep it but if it will kill the engine will remove it???
Cheers

I've been told the header wrap needs to start a few inches before the outlet valve, otherwise it keeps too much heat in the valves and buggers them! Bloody good looking bike

Hmmm, yes perhaps consider removing it...the standard chrome pipe looks great in any case. Nice bend on the standard SR header. Ever seen the sequential videos on the SR Cafe site in Japan where they make the SR parts...including the header...very interesting. If you haven't look here: www.yamaha-motor.jp/mc/lineup/sportsbike/sr400/cafe/index.htmlSR
