48 in about 90 days ,1st bike was a lambretta cut down to a mini bike (I was 11 & it was a project that my dad & myself did together).Got my first SR500 in 79 for $1500 after mucking about with honda 360 twin then a 76xs650 . I actually gave my dad a SR250 last year for his 69th birthday to remind him of those earlier motorcycle testing days . He loves my shed ,full of bikes & always a project or 2 to ponder & drink a beer over . He cut his teeth on Velos,AJS,Matchless& Francis Barnetts .So he's with us on the SRs they are a perfected version of what he learnt on . A no frills motor/bike cheers Dave.

I'm one month younger than my '78 SR - this year's a milestone for both of us, entering into the new 20s.

I bought my SR500 back in 1987 when I was 27. I still have the same bike which is still going strong. Admittedly I have bought and sold several other bikes since but have no intentions of ever parting with my beloved SR

46 started riding at 6 didnt buy my first helmet till twelve old manthought I was a bit queer for wanting one leather cap was all they wore in his day .First road bikes were a string of well sorted 350 rds Had a mate with an sr couldnt lose the bugger in the adelaide hills no matter what I did. always wanted one till I bought mine in 98. Out of the 45 or so bikes I have had the sr makes me smile the most . Its like having an old freind in the shed to take you back to a simpler more easy going time

35
Learnt to ride at 9 by sneaking round to a mates place, his dad was the caretaker of a farm owned by one of the bigger yamaha dealers in melbourne so they always had a bunch of new bikes to test out.
My first bike was also a lambretta, a 55 ld150. I bought it for a hundred bucks, put some fuel into it and rode it around my neighbourhood for a couple of years. Since then I have owned approx 35 scooters with 16 of them still in my garage. (latest one bought today off evilpay)Speaking of lambrettas turned into mini bikes, I met a bloke at the lambretta 60th anniversary rally in sydney last year who almost turned a 1950's works racer into a mini bike. This bike was built by the lambretta factory and brought over to oz to race. It won just about every race it entered, not surprising as it is a 125cc two stroke that had a top speed well above the tonne. It's funny watching him retell the story of how they had the angle grinder out ready to chop it up when someone mentioned to them that it might not be the best idea considering what they had in their hands. Everyone within earshot always has the most pained expression on their face as he tells it.
My first road bike was a z250 I bought about 6 years ago, that's is the only non scooter I have owned until now as ive recently gotten hold of a mint stock 79 sr500 and a beat up xt500.

44 here. Been riding since I was about 6 (six), but always on dirtbikes. After I got to thinking about this, I can only count one year in all that time that I didn't have a motorcycle. That was during my later college years when I had no mone and no time to ride.
Just bought my SR 500 off of my brother several months ago (who owned it since 1981 or so). This is my first street bike ever.

I'm 58, bought my SR new in 1980, and still ride it as often as I can.
I started riding on paddock bikes in the sixties at age 13. The first bike I owned was a 1968 Suzuki T20 Hustler, now that was a bike! I am hoping to relive that experiance by rebuilding a Suzuki GT250 X7, should have it on the road before the end of the year. I added an SRX600 to my stable about 3 years ago and that is a sweet ride, but I always enjoy climbing onto the SR, it brings back memories...
Cheers, MikeC.

I'm surprised at the high average age! 54 here, had an SR a few decades back for a bit and bought the current one a couple years ago.
