I was wondering the what the median age of an SR rider is. After looking the the KVR website I noticed most seemed to be 30's and up (some more "up" than others ). I am wondering if these bikes are more sought after be "seasoned" adults or if there are more younger guys like me interested. After going to a moto-swap meet last weekend (mostly HD stuff) I felt like most everyone was about 10 years older and counting. Any one willing to step up to the plate and announce their "depreciation"? Since I'm asking, I reckon I should be the first: I'm a ripe age of 26... For 23 more days.

I'm approaching 60 but I bought the bike from a skinny young guy who wasn't strong enough to start it!

I bought my first SR500 brand new in 1980. I was 23. Actually, I was all set to buy a brand new 79 RD400 "Daytona Special". Beautiful bike... White with red stripes. I took my wife for a look, and she spied a row of 3, 79 SR500's on sale for 1800 bucks. We got the SR. Still riding the same bike (well parts of it) at age 50. I bought a 2nd SR500 about 15 years ago

49 (50 in December)
Bought my first SR (second hand 1978 model with 1500km on it) in 1980 aged 22 and have had at least one 500 Yamaha ever since. I had first ridden a SR in '78 (demo bike at the local dealer, who I used to race with and later worked for) and had ridden my older brother's mates 1976 XT500C many time since he bought it new in '76.
With the big 50 comming up at the end of the year I have just re-obtained my Senior National competition licence (last held it in 1996) and intend to ride my XT500C in this years SA Reliability (road) Trial Series. First event is the Phillip Haydon 6 Hour, which is this Saturday (3rd May), so if I survive, I will post how it all went.

Hey 58 is a good number for me, sometimes I think I have 44years of 1st year experience. Actually the SR stimulates the prostrate & delays the inevitable tumor. A good rule... don't look in mirrors, the imagination is better!

38 years.
Learned to ride when I was 13 or 14, unbeknown to my parents.
Purchased my first bike, a 1980 BMW R100, for $1200 when I was 25, fresh out of the Navy. Havn't been without a bike since.
For 5 years, from 1999 to 2004, I didn't own a car or truck. Just bikes. Seriously considering returning to that way of life!
Somewhere along the way, I discovered that I liked smaller displacement, lighter bikes WAY better than big displacement, heavier bikes.
Looking forward to many more great years of riding.
