Stew, what's the story on the roller under the chain? Obviously it's meant to take up slack and keep the chain from slapping around, but did you add that? Or did some SRs come with them?

It's a great idea ...it is made by Craftman in Japan...it uses the rear lower engine mount bolt. A special nut (like a tube nut) is placed there in place of the original which has another thread on it and you simply screw the bolt through the roller and into the tube nut. Neat and simple. The roller is rubber as well, nice and quiet. I used a different bolt to the original from the kit, as I don't like a threaded bolt going through the roller. Here's a pic of the kit: Simple idea (as good ones often are) and it suited the DCM, keeping the chain away from the underslung oil tank. SR

Hmm, I probably just took the pics from two different areas...of course there was probably no difference between them anyway, paint job wise...besides 100ccs of course... I recall that Yamaha were good at maximising their opportunities on their brochures..ie YZ400s with 250 covers on them...I even have a TY175 brochure here somewhere where the bike is being ridden and there is no lower axle retaining cap on the front forks on one side! If I can find it I'll scan it in and post it here somewhere... SR

More Tempter drum pics...now it's arrived with me... ...it's the one at the front... Similar to an SRs 'fake scoop'...hmmm, out with the drill and the file between the fins... It has a very wide rim so I might remove it and put in a narrower one...maybe keep this one for a rear wheel for something... SR

I've sussed out some SR400 bits from a wrecker in Victoria (ph0394571733 Laclan or Chris) ,apparently very good condition wire rims, with all the brakes & gear to go with them & with tyres that are supposed to be good too .Delivered to my door for a grand(it may be a lot of coin but I've been looking for long enough)I'm trying too save myself some major work by getting the whole lot off 1 bike. Its a gamble but I'll let yous know how they are when I get them ? The guys did seem quite helpful though & they did say they had a few sets cheers Dave.

Just installed my rearsets from Ken at n-r performance and they are stellar. I sent him my stock brake pedal and he shortened it, sent it back with the rearsets for my '80 SR. Perfection at a VERY reasonable price. I'd post a pic here, but I'm retarded....have yet to figure out how to do it with this iMac....tried and tried to no avail. Anyway, Kudos to Ken Crane and his exemplary craftsmanship............
