That would be intersting...."man i think I overcooked this corner a little, hope there's nothing coming the other way....AHHAHH....an ELEPHANT"
Or hitting a pile of elephant "left overs" would make things hairy in a bend

Somewhere in the vague recesses of my mind I remembered something about stolen Japanese bikes going to Thailand in pieces and then being reassembled. I ran across the following post on www.gt-rider.com/thailand-motorcycle-forum/index.phpCan't say where he got his info though. "In 2002 Japanese Government sent a Team of investigators to thailand and with help of Royal thai police over 4000 bikes of 400cc + were examined all ex Japanese imports , only 6 were found to be stolen , less than 1% ,The investigators came to every shop in pattaya and not 1 stolen bike was found but on beach road 12 big rental bikes were seized as stolen in Japan. So 99% of ex japanese bikes here are legal. In the UK it was found in 2005 that 15% of grey import cars from japan were stolen. The Japanese vehichle auctions are very tightly monitored, but i am sure there are other ways stolen bike can get in here as in any country."

Hi All, It has been a while. Thought I would post a few shots of my very slow progressing cafe project. It is the rainy season now, so it is a good time to be in the garage and make some progress. Got the frame back from the powder coater. All aluminium has been polished. Most steel bits have been chromed or replaced with stainless. I had some four piston Tokico calipers laying around from when I changed my Suzuki to 6 pots. I figure it ought to stop a little better! The motor is close to being finished. I'm having the inlet pocket deepened on the 90mm Wiseco 11-1 piston to clear the Megacycle 25162 camshaft. Also need to finish up the head porting when my Dremel tool gets here from Ebay. Managed to score some really pretty stainless rearsets from the local shop here. Still hoping to find a nice alloy tank for not too many $$. More as it progresses!

Would anyone know what this swingarm is off of? It looks like an early "80's Kawasaki KX arm.

The one on my 1995 Triumph daytona looks very similiar, without the lugs for the twin shocks

It is not really a steering damper; just for decoration. It was included with the dropped top triple clamp that I picked up second hand. Any idea where you got the steering damper from ?? Cheers LURCH

Thanks for the nice comments. Budget?? We don't need no stinking budgets! These are the rearsets I picked up second hand. Look like the same ones boanerges is using. I was wondering who made them. After removal of the Yamaha logos, and polishing. Not too shabby.

Thoroughly enjoyed this thread; a trip through south east Asia has been on the back-burner for a while - mmmm, combining it with a riding trip not only proper bikes, but on the greatest!

Thanks for the nice comments. After removal of the Yamaha logos, and polishing. Not too shabby. Would you mind explaining how to polish the side covers? Those are beautiful! The ones on my '78 project bike where once polished (you can tell), but now they look pretty bad. THANKS!
