Hi,
I also asked Marlon this, but is it the same length as a standard swing arm as far as the axle position goes etc.?
Does it come with the axle and bearings etc.?

Yes it has the bearings installed and comes with the axle (17mm) Here are some drawings to help clear up the size question. Marc

Just a quick update on my project. Nearing completion Added energy coming from the progressively warmer days. The tank will be off to paint this weekend. I'm pretty stumped for the moment as to what i'm doing with the rearsets. The current config. is bumping the mega. I'm prob. gonna try to lift its mounting point by 1/2" (requires grinding.) I may just sit in zen contemplation with a beer (or 3) on Sat. afternoon and wait for the cosmos to deliver an answer. (could take more than 3 beers)

You'll notice the oil drips on the floor in the last picture...We can't have can we? I went in to replace the gasket and when I was putting the cover back on I torqued off the lowest bolt head! :-0 ...so, I went in with the drill and the easy out...when I tried to back it out it wouldn't budge...I gave it a bit more muscle and cracked the bottom out of the case where it bulges out for the bolt! Talk about being gutted! So I guess I'll be tearing down the whole engine again to have it welded up and milled. I WAS 1 F-ING WEEK FROM FINISHING THE BIKE AND RIDING!!! I feel like puking.

I WAS 1 F-ING WEEK FROM FINISHING THE BIKE AND RIDING!!! I feel like puking. troutthunter, my heart goes out to you...I thought I had my project close enough to go for the state inspection today...1.7 miles from home it died on me. I'm figuring on carb/fuel issues but didn't have the time or heart to work on it later this afternoon. Kevin

I WAS 1 F-ING WEEK FROM FINISHING THE BIKE AND RIDING!!! I feel like puking. Sorry to hear about the trouble. It happened for a reason. Take a breath and move on. You'll be glad that you fixed it right when done. Any other mods that you need to consider while you're in there?

No other mods they're all done.. 90mm Megacycle cam R+D springs w/ titanium valve retainers flowed head Carillo rod heavy duty clutch. I'm pretty deep already the only things I can think of would be a Powroll stroker crank or one of those fancy dry clutches you guys are looking at. But clutch is too expensive and I like the stock stroke where it's at. I'll entertain any Ideas you guys have while I'm in there. I'm tearing it down today ordering a gasket set on Mon. and going over the whole thing and CAREFULLY put it back together. It's 2:50 am and I can't even sleep over it. I should have been riding it by tomorrow.

The bike is lookin' great, troutthunter.
If you don't mind me asking, where did you have your head flow ported at?

I was lucky enough to have had it done before I got the bike. The previous owner was very loose with his wallet while preparing the engine. He had a super high lift cam, and a specially made venolia 87mm 13 or 14:1piston. But he didn't use a degree wheel and dial indicator to time it in or the piston jut didn't have deep enough pockets ...bang! -bent valve! so I got a newly rebuilt engine with the Carillo rod. But I had to replace almost the whole top end and add a reasonable compression ratio and cam. OK I'm rambling on...I think that for a basic flow job to open it up to a 38 or 40mm carb and some smoothing it should be easy to find a place around you in OK. There are a lot of shops down there that do these engines for dirt track racers. if you have a dremmel tool and a gentle touch you may try doing it yourself. I was gonna but... So today will be the day I strip the engine. Also I'm gonna see if I can get that old dirty "black donk" (Marlon's term, I think) from my newly acquired XT into running condition. I guess a wheezing old ugly thumper engine that thumps me around town could be ok for a while, while a sort out my ham fisted mistake.

Can I get an opinion form you guys? the milled surface is still intact on the inner side of the bolt hole. Do you think I would be able to get away with some JB weld to build up the broken bit, and finish it off with a drill and tap? Will that give me enough torque to seal it up? I know it's a patch job but I pulled out an extra bottom end I had in a box and the flywheel is rusted in place or something. I stripped off the threads on my flywheel puller trying to get it off. This is turning into a HUGE ball ache!
