As y'all know, there some good SR's around, and some not-so-good ones. I'm going through a book I've got at home and scanning some pages at some of the more... interesting ones. Here's a great impression of a BSA. Not just the usual paintjob, but they've actually modded the frame and engine mounting so the barrel sits bolt upright. I'm interested in everybody's opinion...  |

This must be one of the coolest sr's I've seen. Seat, tank, sidepanels combined with clip-ons...wow...if my old bsa single looked like this I'd never would have sold it. Gonna post this picture on my site. Christer home.online.no/~cfolke/ |

What issue is that? Where did you get your hands on it? I've got No. 6 and I've seen a couple of other issues, but I wouldn't mind adding to my collection.

probably is one of those bsa`s made by bsaRegal in england.
SR500`s were imported stripped and then some parts,together with some aftermarket parts were put in a new bsa frame.
these bikes were then exported all over the world mainly to japan. imported by daytona.since there are no sr500 made any more they stopped production.

Hi Sjef, Yes that one of the 'gold stars' alright. There was a nice one made with the larger head and barrel made by them as well. Great looking engine...if you can go by looks...here's another BSA/SR pic...  SR  |

IMO the stock SR has a Norton Commando look to it that can't be beat. Having said that, here's a couple that are pretty nice. I think they are Japanese-built.   miker |

Miker, I quite like the first. I have to admit, the outright renaming of SR's cracks me up, like the Velocette in the second picture. Tidy looking bike otherwise. Stew & Sjef, I had no idea at all about the SR engines in the BSA frames! Learn something new every day. Here's another goodie for today. An AJS...  I'm not sure which SR file I have. It doesn't seem to have a number on the cover, but i'll have to go back and check today. |

Marlon. It should say it on the cover, unless you've loss the cover's sleeve, in which case it'll be on the spine.
But you didn't answer my other question. . . where did you get it. I've got one, but I bought it from Japan.

Well, those bikes are a little more popular than what I first thought, so here's an SR doing an impression of a Queer 1980's Madonna crossed with a bit of Brian Setzer and Joe Strummer.  I love the Engrish on the side of the tank. Bize, it looks to be a 'best of' from the 01-05 SR files, so it doesn't have a number as such. It's called "SR Recollections" I picked it up from Deus around 9 months ago for $60.00. Man, I wish I spoke Japanese. |

I got it from Deus - Are you going to be at the Mean Fiddler this Saturday?
It's replaced my "Playboy - Redheads" book as my preferred toilet read.

Maybe it's just me but I find the whole SR trying to be an old brit bike thing a bit of a wank and unoriginal, there are some amazing bikes out there which show heaps of thought without buying into the whole "500 single so it must look british" thing.
Sorry if I upset anyone but just my two bobs worth.
