When I bought my SR it had BSA stickers on the tank and side covers. I removed the tank stickers, because people were asking about it as a BSA, as opposed to now where people just come up and ask about the bike in an open way. I left the stickers on the side covers because they were neat, and had this run-in with a security guard, which I mentioned: he was pissed off that I could have these tiny BSA stickers on it, when it was a...wait for it, Yamaha! Mysteriously, somebody had set the tap to prime and flooded the carburretur, yet I didn't notice eve though I was standing beside it, but he had a go at it leaking fuel even though he standing a distance away. You had to get up mighty close to see they were BSA stickers. I figured it was better for my bike not to invite the antics of those who are pedantic about their Brit-sh*t or their Yank-wank ;D
I also felt funny about the false advertising, and personally I think stickers on a serious attempt at a copy is fine, but less so on a bike that doesn't make that attempt, but sheesh, people can take it all too seriously!! Ride what you ride and have fun with it. Do what you wanna do, be what you wanna be, yeah!

I was thinking of your story when I saw the BSA mod... Here's one that would have the members of the oh-so-exclusive Ducati club passing motions at their next group meeting. (Negative experience alert) And this... well, christ knows what this is. I think it's what Joe Strummer's and Freddie Mercury's lovechild would look like if he was a motorbike.
