So how do I get this from Japan? Top photo on page. Contacted them, but haven't heard back yet if they sell to the US, or have a North American distributor. Man it looks nice, wonder how it performs? www.craftman.jp/03_seihin_page/sr.htmGary Hopwheels

Just be careful, that top pipe looks like it wouldn't work with rearsets. It goes right through the point where you would put the footpeg and you need room for the heel of your boot. I had this problem with a pipe I had fabricated and now I have had an exhaust custom made from scratch that runs under the engine and hangs low below the rear axle nut. It's tucked out of the way there.

Gary Have a look at this pipe it's similar to the Japanese one but home grown in the US for you so should be cheaper and easier to get your hands on. www.omarsdtr.com/exhaust10a.html If you do end up getting one a report on how it goes would be good. Cheers Rich

Thanks Rich. I've ordered from Omars before too... just slipped my mind. Looks nice. Probably performs well too. I think getting something over from Japan may be $$$$ cha-ching! anyway. Gary Hopwheels

Hi Gary,
I priced one of their pipes here at Deus...they'd get it in for me...$1,400 Aus...
That Omars pipe looks very nice.

Does anyone have a picture of Omars pipe on a bike? How loud is it?

That's a nice looking pipe on ebay. I had a similar one on my SR once, a stainless steel Supertrapp that was made for a 750 Seca with a 4-1 header. It looked nice but interferes with saddle bags so I put it back on the Seca. There's a photo of it here on my bike page, www.arizonasteve.netfirms.com/Motorcycle.htm

The one on ebay doesn't fit an SR500. Check the photo on ebay, it's mounted to a XT/TT frame...It bends upwards right where the rear brake shaft on the SR500 is welded to the frame, so it cannot possibly fit without major modifications or relocating the brake shaft, (where?) and cutting up the frame. It looks like it fits the XT frame perfectly though. I know because I bought one. I've asked Randy to let me know what he can do to help me out here, or I'll have to sell the system. It's really nicely made... any takers??

Instead of modifying the frame to fit that ebay header, it would be easier to cut the last bend off and slip a Supertrapp or similar muffler to the end.

I talked to Randy, the maker of that pipe, and we figured out that he designed it for the earlier, disc brake version, (78-79)..so beware..the 80-81 frame is slightly different.
