Hi all, Wanted to try to put this oil cooler on my SR500. Could you look at these jpegs and verify if my arrows correctly represent the oil flow? If I have the flow right I was thinking about using the main return line. Is this the best way? Route a line from the return coming out of the top frame outlet into the top of the cooler. Then from the bottom of the cooler back to the return entrance just under the carb. I have a few clamps I think will work ok on the front frame post to keep the cooler in place on the left side where I'm holding it in the photo. thanks -c

Cruz, what you call the return from the tank is actually the feed to the tank. The oil line with the oval end held by 2 allen bolts flows opposite to your arrow(oil flows up to tank) This is the line that should feed your cooler and the return from the cooler into the top tank. The way you want to install the oil lines is correct. The other small line you have marked is right. It's the feed for the rockers and cam. Don't use this line for the cooler. Curly

As Curly said, you should put use the oil return line that goes from the top of the crankcase up to the oil tank.
I have done this by cafefully cutting the ends off of a std oil line and using the original fittings with new oil hoses held on by hose clamps to connect the oil cooler to the engine. You don't have to worry about fancy high pressure fittings (unless you want the "trick look") as the oil pressure in these engines is very low, i.e. about 7 - 10psi, and in 25 years I have not had a hose clamped hose fitting leak let alone come off.
