Has anyone used an XT clutch cover on the SR engine? Any reason it won't work? Same part# for gasket. Thanks.

It works. You can even use the appropriate additional parts to convert to points-style ignition if you want, with a little drilling/reaming.

Dave,
As Miker has said, you need do do a bit of drilling and reaming, as the SR crankcases have not had the bose where the points drive shaft runs machined.
I have done the drill and ream (using a guide jig that I made) on all of my SR grankcases, and am currently running all the XT bit including the points ignition on my racer as it give me a bit of experimental/tuning flexibility with my ignition timing.

The XT cover fouls the bigger SR steel banded clutch basket, I found out the hard way......

Even with the steel band removed, the XT clutch cover didn't fit the clutch basket on my SR. I had to turn the basket to a smaller diameter...
