I've snapped the kickstart pedal before on another bike. Has anybody done it on an SR? On the other bike, I got a new one the same day (gotta love posties!!) but I suspect one would have to wait weeks for another to arrive from Japan (not good if it's your only transport). Hmmm... Who else suffers from sparanoia? (-the anxious need to have all vital spare parts ready to hand)

If you're getting a spare part for the starter mechanism...make it the return spring for the kick-starter...I've broken that twice.

There is also a little plate that goes behind the kick start assembly that disengages the starter gears, Ive broken one of those

Yes me too...I have also broken a kickstart lever at the base of the pivot on a hotted up XT500...just about tears your knee joint out as the leg comes down hard with suddenly no resistance... SR

As I use the SR as my only form of transport (Hopefully to change when I get to Melbourne. Watch out Torana! Or Magnas... or VTR250's. Anyway) I've got a awful case of sparanoia. I want a spare d**n near everything - including an engine if one pops up! I'm not really all that worried about the kick starter - I've got a spare somewhere and I can clutch start my bike down the driveway anyway.
SpareSRanoia - that's when you end up with multiple SR's! Now that's bloody tempting too. I could have my cafe racer... a street tracker... a bobber...

Yes - they're "necessary"...I "need" these back-up bikes. Actually, I've got a second bike (and so back-up vehicale) in mind. Can't finance anything decent, but these come up for a few hundred sometimes on eBay - either: 1) Postie, with bodgy rear-sets and clip-ons and bikini-fairing, and something like ethanol/methane running it (have no idea of their cost or where to get them) Or, 2) Kawasaki KH100, cafe raced as above (unlike my SR), but normal fuel. Both bikes will be 'lie down / hug the bike' style seating.
