The screen is shown in the first diagram...just behind the downtube drain bolt at '6'... SR I think wotavidone means the screen in the small cover underneath the engine where the drain plug is Stew

Are you talking about No. 5? . . . I can't find a scematic Based on the direction of oil circulation and the position of the screen (if it was a wet sump, it'd be the oil pickup screen) suggests to me that it's before the pump. If I could read Japanese I'm sure I could give you more info about that screen.

Ah, OK...yes I think it's before the pump as well...I once smashed a piston and all the bits ended up at the screen in the sump...nothing of any consequence got through. Washed out the bottom end for a while then back together and it lasted for many years. SR

Aha !! So as I see it, the strainer fitted in the frame down tube cleans the oil before it gets to the circulation pump, then the oil is pumped through the paper type cartridge filter before feeding the cylinder head & crank & main bearings then the oil runs down to the sump where it passes though the other strainer before going through the scavenge side of the pump & retuning back to the frame/oil tank yeah??
Hopefully sjef will come up trumps with his Tampon ;D ;D style filter Thanks LURCH
