Hi. Just came in from a friend who owns a new Yamaha TTR 600 offroader. He claims that the engine is the same as the SR 500 engine and would probably fit (the frame). When looking at the engine, it looks the same but more modern in a way. Has anyone any thoughts about fitting a TTR 600 engine in a SR? Would be nice.... Christer Ride on home.online.no/~cfolke

I was offered one last year for $500 but the donk was shattered & not repairable it had heaps of other good bits on it but no good to me so I passed it up .I'm sure the engine would fit somehow though cheers Dave.

The critical pooint wold be engine mounts and clearance wouldn't it? Otherwise anythings possible.......
It would be intersteing to see how it goes.....

Yes I agree.
But my first impression is that it would fit right into the frame.
My buddy also drives a Husaberg 600, and states the ttr 600 engine is slow compared to the Husaberg. But then again the Husaberg is full racer.
I reckon the engine would be guite lively in an SR frame.
These engines (and complete bikes) goes cheap in Germany I see.
One downfall is that the ttr engine is ugly.

Husaberg's aren't that common over here, but i've read good things about the pull from their engines, supposedly very powerful.
I think my next bike might be a scandi......I do love my Husky chainsaw, maybe i need the bike to go with it.....

Hi milkman
The Husaberg is a water cooled one cylinder full racer spec enduro bike, 600, with lights and so forth.
Every two hundred hours the engine must be refurbished/ overhauled.
My friend got tired of this, and bought a ttr 600 for reliability and piece of mind. Off course the Yam feels slow and dull in comparison to the Husaberg.....but that engine in an sr would be nice I guess.
Have friends with Husabergs, Husqvarna and Highland bikes. All Swedish. Only mopeds and light motorcycles produced here in Norway (years and years ago) with Sachs or Villiers engines.
Ride on
