Hey everyone,
I went for an amazing ride today, dodging and revving high uphill for a cross-city urban blast. The bike performed amazingly, but at the top I noticed a spray of black oil coming down from the top of the cylinder, lightly coating the TDC indicator window. It appears to be coming from the tacho connection, has anyone else experienced this problem? is is as simple as replacing the circlip and a o-ring in the tacho hookup?
thanks, Davey

It is a fairly common problem and replacing the O'ring will normally sort it out. Some times oil will work it way up the taco cable, and if there is a split in the plastic sheath of the cable it will "leak" out of the cable.

Hi, There is also a seal around the shaft that may need replacement. Check it out and if in doubt change them both. SR

I think I'm right in saying that the kickstart indicator, does not indicate TDC, it's actually past TDC to make kick starting easier, worth noting that it's not usefull for setting valve clearances etc,,, Cheers,,,,,,John

Its probably close to TDC as its showing you the inlet valve opening . When you press the kick start down it sucks the fuel in then it comes back up to TDC and wammo its supposed to fire & start (thats about 3 quarters through the kick action) thats why you should kick 100% every time all the way . Don't let it bite back he he cheers Dave.
