Hi all,
I am in the process of finishing a "dry build" of the SR classic racer I have been working on forever.
One of the requirements for a racing 4 stroke is the obligator oil catch tank on the crankcase breather. Now I don't want to do the normal, and just stick the end of the crankcase breather hose into an empty shampoo bottle that is cable tied to the frame.
I want to make up a proper aluminium catch tank to mount behind the engine / above the swingarm pivot. I have seen quite a few large oil catch tanks advertised on the Net for use on custom/race cars, but they are all to big.
So has anyone ever made up a proper catch tank for a race bike, and can you advise on the relative positioning of the inlet and outlet pipes/hose and need to fit / positioning of seperator plates in the tank. I have seen one recomendation on the Net to steel wool inside the catch tank to "trap" oil vapours. All advise and sugestions greatly apprieciated.

Hi mate, I have so far made several tanks for my various bikes. So far I haven't put any baffling in them, but I can see how that might be useful. I recently had one made for the DCM and I placed a small K&N filter at the outlet. I can send you a pic. Send me your e-mail address if you're interested. SR sross2@vtown.com.au

Hi, Finally got the oil catch tank I have been making back from the welder. It has been made to fit into the space that was for the battery, since one isn't needed on a racer. CJ
