Hey guys: Took apart the motor on my '79 this weekend to check the basic timing. I'm pretty certain it was 180° out, so I fixed that, put it back together and still a no go. I'm starting to wonder if the high performance cam I had put in needs to be degreed in more specifically (which based on reading their site seems well beyond my abilities and patience). The one in the motor is from Webcam (http://www.webcamshafts.com/), the #88 grind. Any thoughts guys? I'm kind of discouraged with this bike not getting it running after so many months. I may just tear it all down again and drop in a stock cam and see what happens. Any forseeable problems with a stock cam along with the 90mm piston I'm running?

Hi,
I don't think the cam is the problem. I have been running a Webcam #88A for the past 20 odd years in my hot engine and it is set up using the stock camtiming reference marks.
The only problem that I have experienced with this cam is the odd bent inlet valve when the engine had been over-rev'd while running a 11:1 Wiseco piston, which was cured by cutting a deaper valve pocket into the piston.
