i installed a new clutch cable, the adjuster screw was all the way out. so, after installing the new one i notice oil seeping out of the clutch arm seal. Is it not adjusted properly? Is the cable pulling on it to much? thoughts? also, how do i set the clutch adjuster behind the chain guard? could that be the problem?

There is actually a mark on the engine case, that you line up the slot in the clutch arm with by adjusting the screw and locknut set up that is behind the chain guard. Can't remember the exact procedure, but there is a link to the shop manual in the Links section of this forum. Mick

Bit of a trait for the 500s to leak around the clutch actuating arm (both of mine do it) But if it was not leaking before might need some investigation as to why??

Hi, Mate change the seal...cheap to buy and it takes 5 minutes... Remove the cable and screw adjuster, pull out the lever assembly and take off the washer...gently prise out the seal with a screw driver and you'll be able to push the new seal in by hand. Put it all back together.....don't overtighten the adjuster when you're screwing it back in! Simple, go to it! SR
