Hey guys; Milestone one, we have a motor! Actually have a lot more finished than this, just not much assembled. Getting lost in "polishing bolts" land a bit. Anyway, here's the JE Pistons Big Bore Kit, 38mm Mikuni, WebCam Racing Cam, R/D HiPerf Valve Springs 540cc BEAST! Hopefully this sucker runs as great as it looks. Can't wait to get it in the bike and everything together. Man I want to kick this thing over right now! Thanks for all the help and encouragement everyone! Much, much more to go, and many more questions, miles to go before I sleep. Gary Hopwheels www.hopwheels.com/pics/IMG_0697.JPG

Gary, That is a beautiful motor. My bike will ready soon as well so if I see you in the hills around here remember that mine isn't so pretty so I'm not afraid to drop it passing you! See you in the twisties. Jim

The engine stand came up on eBay. Specifically for the SR/XT/TT. I've seen them again from time to time. They're usually listed under "SR500" when searching eBay. I did the engine tear down and spit and polish, but had a mechanic in SD build it. Then shined it up some more! Bought the wrong chain, waiting on a replacement. Still trying to figure out two wires on the tach. Bleed the brakes. Other than that... should be good to fire. Wish I could get to it over this long weekend but I'm taking the MSF course to get my M1 finally (hopefully!) I've been fiddling around with my next project a pure SR track bike in an XT frame. Going to try and do the motor rebuild (other than the machine shop work) myself. We'll see. I'll post some pics soon, but not much progress. A lot of standing around with my arms folded figuring out what I'm going to do with 'er. Also have made some cosmetic mods to my Suzuki SV650.

what kind of refinishing did he do? rings, honing.... how much did he charge? i need the cylinder gasket replaced and might as well fiddle with everything else while it's apart.
