Ok, I’m new here so hello all, I have just purchased a 1983 sr500 Anniversary model, i have been search and investigating all about the sr500. As I’m turning it into a café racer.
It has had a k&N filter installed (not me) and a exhaust valve oil return. The problem is when acclering the motor bogs down.
Here are the events of what happens,
Start cold with full choke, once started shut off choke, bike idles at about 1500. Start off, no problems, Rev (up to 6500 – 7000) it through the gears first second third… it hesitates a little when you get back on the gas, after each change. Then I can putter about below 4000 revs no problem.
Then once I start playing or trying to have fun, I try to rev the engine, but it bogs down at about 4000, and if I give more accelerator, it just keep bogging down.
So any ideas what the problem may be,
I am not very mechanical, but do have the full workshop manual. So any advice ot pointer would be greatly appreciated.
