Are any of you familiar with installation of a longer rod in your SRs? I used to race an SR in the early '90s and several of the fast SR racers had shimmed the cylinder and installed a longer rod to get a longer rod/stroke ratio. This was supposed to be a great way to get a little more out of the motors with better reliability. I'm currently rebuilding an SR and was considering this before I put it back together. I've been unable to find out any information on this modification, such as where to get the correct rod etc. Thanks for the help.

Hallo Jim you can order custom rods @ www.carrilloind.comcutting a base plate should not be that difficult i suppose, gives you a nice opportunity to mount studs in it for strenghtening the barrel. regards sjef BTW do you plan to rebuild the crank yourself?

Hello Sjef, Thanks for the information. I would have guessed that Carrillo was the source for the rods. I would send the crank to a local shop (there should be quite a few here in Southern California). I'm new to this part of the country so I'll have to research who would do the work. Falicon was the shop that most racers used when I was back in Seattle, I believe. Do you know if the cam chain length is a problem? Thanks, Jim

Hallo Jim, camchain is no problem for me , www.kedo.de sells longer camchains for stroked SR engines. all depends of how much you lengthen the rod and/or what piston/deck height you are using, baseplate or not? my crank is stroked at 91 mm with the original length rod so i need a baseplate of about 3,5mm, depending of the comp.ratio needed www.powroll.com in redmond oregon also delivers good quality they are moving at the moment and not running on full service regards sjef

I'll give Powroll a try. How did your motor feel after the stroke job? Did you have any other tuning issues that came up from the modification?
Thanks, Jim

Sounds like a good set-up sjef, are you going to dyno the bike?

That sounds like a great motor. Is the Daytona head a stock head with a porting job? I'd like to se what they have to offer. Where are they located? You should dyno that motor. My old race motor was very similar except for the bigger valves and the SPII ignition (of course I didn't have the Over gearbox, that sounds very trick). Mine put out 47 HP at the rear wheel and had a huge flat power and torque curve. I was running a 41mm Mikuni flatslide with that tune. What carb are you running? Also, what can you tell me about the ignition? I was looking into those Hyperpaks you see on Ebay but I don't know much about the unit or the benefits over a stock ignition.

Sjef, I just reread your post and saw the Kehein fcr 41. Sounds like your motor is missing nothing. Jim
