I noticed on one of the SR/TT/XL boards I was perusing that a builder had attained 56hp out of his TT500.
What has been your experience in in seeking the Holy Grail of H.P.? Please list your "improvements" and the power increases you've noticed. Also your opinion of "bang-for-the-buck" parts or prep.

I had an SR road racer in the early 90's that was running a 90mm high compression piston (approx. 540cc), a megacycle cam, ported head, 41mm flat-slide Mikuni and a race exhaust pipe. With that state of tune I was able to get about 47 HP at the rear wheel on the dyno. The torque and horsepower curve was a huge, flat thing as I recall (I wish I still had the dyno sheet to post). It was above 40 HP from 4000 rpm to 7500+rpm (as I recall). I'm sure there was more there to be had but this tune was (mostly)reliable for 3 seasons. My main problem was everything vibrating off. The tallest gearing I was running allowed around 115 to 120 mph, (according to several bikes speedos) without a fairing. It would usually reach that about 2/3 of the way down a mile straight and I could never redline it, unless I got a good draft.
