Hello: Well, I decided to dig into the engine today. Total tear down, and rebuild (maybe not by me!) Anyway, the cyliner head cover was frozen to the cylinder from oxidation. No amount of taps with the rubber mallet loosened it. So I used a thin blade screwdriver (I'm sure this is where all you experienced guys are wincing), and drove it between the cover seam to free it. It worked. BUT, I gouged the surface of both the cover and cylinder!!!! In several places. Little scrapes. My guess is, that this is bad. Will these have to be resurfaced? Total junk now?
ALSO, so how does one go about loosening the cam gear bolt? That sucker is on there! Lefty loosy righty tighty right?
Thanks. I think I might have gotten in over my head on the engine side of this project!!
