I see on thumperstuff an upgrade for older (pre 80) oil pumps. Can anyone enlighten me on this upgrade? Thanks, Steve

The difference is that the pre 80 pumps have 3 screws to secure the pump/cover. The later has 5 screws. Better seal and oil pressure. Willie

Yup! Just did it on my '78 E. The parts may still be available thru Yamaha as well. It carries a "99999-00996-00" part number which Yamaha used the 99999- for their updated/redesigned parts. Willie
