These are the part Numbers you will need if you want to order an Exhaust Oil Line kit from your local Dealer:o. Part numbers are not available where post 83 bikes were not sold in the country. YAM-33Y1316101 Exhaust Oil Line YAM-9040114094 Head Banjo Bolt YAM-9043014043 Head Banjo Bolt Copper Washers (Need 2) You can re-use your old banjo bolt and copper washers on the gearbox side after annealing the copper washers. You will also need to buy a bolt to plug the hole in the head where the original oil line goes. I use a dome headed allen screw size 8x1.25mm and about 15 or 20mm long by memory. This Kit is a must to stop wear in your exhaust rocker and camshaft. For those who have pulled down a rattly motor before you will know what I am talking about. Also if anyone has the Part Numbers for late model exhaust valves, and the rockers with the hardened insert please reply. Any other part Numbers of interest would be handy too. G MAN Check out thumperstuff.com, he lists hi-volume and dual hi-volume oil line kits.
I found Kedo Performance (kedo.com) in Germany that carries engine parts, body work, and other trick products.
I have a 78 that my stepfather bought from a salvage yard about 5 years ago, never rode it and passed down to me. So I've am searching for ideas. Just got it running a week ago.
I'm glad to find this forum on the SR500.

My 81 SR has the oil line going into the forward rocker area. Does this indicate that it is going on the exhaust side?

Ed, look at the left side of your bike (the headlite will be pointed to the left). On the camshaft/valve train cover, you'll notice two chrome plated fairly large bolts. One will be closer to the carbureter side and one will be closer to the exhaust pipe side. The one closer to the exhaust side is the exhaust valve rocker shaft cover bolt. If your bike has an oil line/banjo fitting fitted in lieu of the cover bolt, then you have the modification. I bought/installed my set-up from Thumper Stuff. Mine piggy backs on the line exiting the case at the rear right of the jug, goes over and across the top of the engine and connects to the exhaust rocker. My understanding is that there are several variations of this mod. Hope I didn't confuse you. I also understand it's a must have mod to extend valve train life. I installed mine at 12,000 miles. Hope I wasn't too late. Bronson7
