Does anyone know if the XS650 and the SR500 take the same size swing arm bearings? I see from various sources that both bikes accept swing arms from the Radian. It would be a lot easier for me to buy some ready made bronze bushings from an XS650 supplier than to find someone to make them. Thanks guys.

The XS has plastic solid bushings stock (bronze aftermarket), the SR has needle bearings stock. Most people consider the needle bearings superior, and IIRC they don't really cost any more than the XS bronze bushings. I'd stick with the stock setup. Thumperstuff has needle bearings.

The parts diagram isn't really too clear but there seem to be 2 bearings on each side, a roller bearing and a thrust bearing. Do all 4 bearings need to be replaced when rebuilding the swing arm? Do I also need some shim washers to take up any slack?

I've asked around to try and find out if the XS650 bushing will fit but nobody seems to know for sure. On the SR500.de forum a couple guys told me that bushing would fit but they aren't familiar with the Omar bushings or the ones from Mikes XS that we get here in the 'States but I'm beginning to think these from Mikes would fit without too much trouble. www.mikesxs.net/mikesxs-suspension.php?category_id=6.3
