;DHi guys is it possible to fit a rear disc to the front of a 78 "e" sr to have a twin disc setup or are the discs not interchangable ? as I have a couple of rear discs but only one standard front disc.... TC

Hi, I just went through this bit of research. The discs are different diameters (roughly rear: 10.5"; front 11.75") but the bolt pattern is the same. However, both the front and rear discs off several other Yamahas, e.g., XS400, are 10.5". I posit that the ideal is to have discs of equal diameter in each side for balance issues (though maybe symmetry alone is enough of a reason!) I'm not sure how less-powerful the braking would be with twin 10.5 discs (but it sure would be more than one 11.75"!). Good Luck! Kevin

Caliper position probably comes into it too...

Yes, caliper position comes into it, only the XS1100 had the same diameter disc but it was much thicker, chase a stock disc and a right side caliper off a XS AND a five eigth master cylinder as well of anything with a twin disc , regards Carl.[oh, and get some dunlopads as well,as they are the only company that do full sintereds for the SR caliper]

To get dual discs I mounted a 750 Seca wheel on the front and installed the missing caliper on the other side of the forks.
