Hey I'm looking for a brake shaft for my sr. I'm running a Japanese SR400 rear hub and the US spec brake shaft is wrong (for the rear disc) I found one on the Japanese yahoo auctions but I (like others) can't get any shipping out of there. Here's a pic of what I need if you guys know of one or have one I can buy. Thanks guys  |

Trout, you need one from an 80-81 US bike, they're just like your picture. I looked for quite a while and lucked onto the one I got, all I can suggest is watching ebay and maybe calling some breaker yards.
BTW, the US XT one is different, all years. You need specifically the 80-81 SR, which was drum.

Thanks Miker! btw, hows your back wheel shaping up, did you get it laced up? I'm still waiting for all the replacment stuff that the USPS will not be paying for. AWW cr4p!
I'll start looking for it tomorrow. I can't believe I left my other on the frame I left behind.

I've taken the hub apart for cleaning/inspecting/polishing... no O-rings! But probably good to have new ones anyway. All else looks great. I have to clean and polish the rim before getting to lacing, so it'll be a while. I did find an old pro locally, so may have the truing done for me rather than build a stand.
That brake arm is easy to forget... I found mine in an ebay store for about $4, couldn't believe my luck. I've only seen about two-three on ebay over the last year, but keep at it, and I'll keep watching for you too.

There's a seller I hadn't seen on ebay before, that has lots of SR parts, and based in the US
seller name: crcycle1
Doesn't have one at the moment, but has lots of other bits and pieces, probably worth watching

I believe you can get a new one @http://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-sr500g-1980_model18748/partslist/D-05.html . I may have to do that myself. Or we can have a bidding war!
