The sprocket is bolted to a carrier which has its own bearing. The carrier drives the wheel via 6 dogs that locate in the rubber cush drive. Its obvious from your vid that the bearing has collapsed and the chain is at the end of its wear limit as well. Take the bus to work, or you could have your next ride in an ambulance. Mick

Damo,
If the sprocket carrier is wobbling that much and the wheel it self is not wobbling, the the bearing surfaces inside the cush drive are knackered. This is normally a result of people ignoring the grease nipple that is fitted on the sprocket carrier. It is there so the internal bearing surfaces between the sprocket carrier and the wheel hub can be greased, and is critically important as both these bearing surfaces are steel and not replaceable.
You may be able to get away with just fitting a new sprocket carrier and cush drive rubbers, but if a new one wobbles on the hub, then you need either a new hub or to get the steel bearing surface machined down and re-sleeved back to the correct size.
Take warning everyone else out there, as this is what will happen if you ignore greasing the the sprocket carrier/cush-drive unit.

CJ When I do an oil change, every 3000km, I give it just enough of a pump of grease to get a small squirt out of the two holes in the retainer which are drilled right through. Is that enough? Mick

im on night shift all this week, i got my new chain and front sprocket through this morning and even though i was night shift last night i was up at midday to fit them. They actually seem to have stiffened up the rear sprocket quite a bit as the old chain had stretched about 4inches!!!!!! i wont have time to take it apart til sunday now and theres so much i have to do, i need a new rear tyre aswell because im bald in the middle now but im just so bloody skint at the moment and i cant afford to pull a sickie and theres no buses/trains at the times i work (i live in a crappy little village) and i dont get paid till the 15th so i really have to ride it anyone wanna send me a free tyre? i got quoted £84 for a rear bt45 plus £30 to fit it, everything seems to be breaking at the same time Damo

Mick and others,
I have been through the genuine Yamaha service manual that I have for the SR500E, and can find no reference to greasing the cush-drive assy, dito the original SR500E owners handbook, however, in the XT500C handbook (page 160) there is a reference to greasing this area, the "rear wheel bearing" with lithium soap grease. It is listed in the section dealing with lubrication of levers, pedals etc, which have a lubrication interval of 3000km.
So, Mick, you seam to have it spot on. I don't know about using lithium soap grease, I suppose it is use so if any gets through to the cush drive rubbers it won't cause any damage to them. I regularly disassembly my cush drive and grease by hand using molyibnium disulphide grease.

I found this on the net,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,For grease lubrication, lithium soap base greases are preferred for needle bearings in general because of their ability to stand up under churning action of rollers in a confined space. These greases are not channeling types, therefore provide constant lubrication for roller contact surfaces. They are also insoluble in water. Operating temperatures vary from -30°F to +250°F. for No 1 consistency lithium soap base grease which should be ideal for GUIDEROL or CAGEROL bearings. For CAMROL or SPHERE-ROL bearings a No 2 consistency is desired.,,,,,,,,,,,,,Cheers,UK
