Despite the po's assurance that the TT that I bought a few weeks ago was a runner, I've had no success starting the darn thing. It also had a pretty major oil leak around the shifter. Yesterday, I broke into the side cases and found the suspect oil seal that was blown where the shifter meets the case, and replaced it. Also did some trouble shooting on the electrical yesterday and today, and suspected the ignition side of the stator, and/or the coil. So I replaced both just to be sure. Today it fired up! And MAN is it is frikkin' LOUD with the 'ol supertrapp it has on it. Ran it around the house and the property for a bit. Carb is out of adjustment 'cause I put the K&N's that were on my '78 SR onto it instead of the stock airbox, but it runs. It's got a lot of pull, seems more than my SR. There really is no feeling like taking a dead mechanical thing and figuring out the issues and bringin' it back to life. Cheers gents! Gary Hopwheels PS: Here's the pics: Before... with Bonnie the dog acting disinterested...amd the bike taking a leak... And after...some minor cleanup, got rid of the lights, rubbed out the rattle-can blue paint on the tank, put NOS front and replica rear fenders on (not '79's, but clean anyway).
