Hi everyone
Fitting rear sets to one of my SRs and finding depending on where rearsets are it is difficult to make respectable looking and dependable foot lever to operate rear brakes. Saw Stewie Ross commenting on cable operated rears. Sounds good as have Suzuki 4LS for up front. Only brake setups I can find that also have cush drive is brakes on GT380,GT550 GT750. Suzies. Has anyone fitted one of these and how much modification is required. Or is there another suitable cable operated rear.

Hi Charlie, You can pretty well make any rear drum suited to cable operation with a few mods. Mine don't have cush drives, but I do have another wheel that does. It's a drum from what I think is a TX500 Yam. Nice looking hub as well. I'll use it on a bike sooner or later. The Suzy one should work as well...axle size may need to played around with and sprocket alignment as well...check that out by sizing it up with the bike... For the cable it's easier to make one from an existing cable...the one on my black CR came from an R5 Yam I think...I then cut it to length to suit and had an aircraft cable fitting swaged onto the end. I can send you some close up pics if you want. I did something similar on the DCM, but it had a TZ rear wheel so the drum already had a cable mount on it. For a cable to suit go to a bike shop and ask to have a look through their cables for something that looks right. You'll need to make up a cable mount for the rear backing plate to suit and one for the front of the cable, mounted above the pedal. Not hard but a bit of playing around. Send me a message above with your e-mail and I'll send you some pics... SR
