Hey all, what's your opinion on rear shocks? I don't need Ohlins or anything, just something a little less bouncy/saggy than the original 30 year old ones. I found these on Oldbikebarn: www.oldbikebarn.com/part.php?id=9922&subcategory=Shocks&bike=&DisplayPerPage=20can I use shocks designed for other bikes that are 325mm long, as long as the bike is around the same weight? If i throw shocks designed for a CB750 will they be stiffer? Or will I crash in a burning wreck? thanks, Davey

Hi, Probably a bit harsh on the springing side and maybe the dampers as well. There should be others around or some second hand ones from someone on here... Anyone help here? SR

Hey thanks Stew, were you referring to the linked aftermarket ones from old bike barn, or the theoretical CB750 ones? I'm willing to fork over for aftermarkets designed for a bike in the weight range, I just don't know anything about shocks so I threw out a wild card with the other example . I like the look of those red ones.....

well spotted! it's my dream setup I need to find one to measure to find out how much fabbing is needed. If you have one could you PLEASE do a tank measurement for me? Here's what my bike really looks like:

That's alright, I have a serious dream What're your worries? I was hoping you'd just have move the front tabs way forward and down, weld a plate for the rear screw. The only real problem would be if the frame was too wide, which is probably the case, but the CB tank doesn't look all that more skinny underneath. It's possible it could be viced back a wee bit, remove the tabs completely, and just wedge on. I really want to do a comparison, if you could take some photos with the tanks off I'd mail you some brownies or something...
