Has anyone put an updated forks and clamps on their SR? What fits and what does it take to do it? I'd like to put something like an R1 front end on mine.

Currently installing a FJ1100/1200 front end on mine. Direct bolt on with the tapered bearing kit for the TT XT SR500. Needed about a 1/2 inch spacer for the lower bearing. Forks are really soft stock on the FJ but seem fine for the SR. Havent ridden with it yet so unknown how it will ride but they are adjustable and should be fine. Hope that helps.

Hi, I have installed '99 R6 forks on one and had triple clamps made to suit...I am still in the midst of positioning an R6 caliper that requires a new off-set bracket to be made and then having a 330mm disk made to suit... All fun... SR

Where are the tapered kits fr the TT/XT sold these days? That sound like a good plan for me.
Really tired of the heart attacks I get trying to stop my SR with the honda 250 drum someone put on the front. Changing to FJ's front might be an all over easier process than mucking around with all the other bits and pieces

Hi, Most bike shops will be able to get the tapered bearing kits in by order...Linko is one brand name...there are others. Perhaps Vanem or Deus could also assist...Shibuyagas??? SR

I got my bearing kit from Dennis Kirk. They have listings for a ton of different bikes. As for the FJ front there is a bunch of stock parts avalible because the Legend car racers part these bikes out on a regular basis for the engine parts. Ebay is full of cheap parts for these. Still working on installing the FJ swingarm and rear wheel assembly. Going smooth so far, just need to weld shock mounts now.
