tomorow i will bring home the rim that came w/the hub and give it a try but i'm just a little frustrated,as normaly i have better refarance materal or another bike to look at anyway thanks for reading my ?/rant Bob ps any one need a black p/ced akront sholdered rim for a montesa if this dos'nt work out lol

Hi, It can depend on the size of the wheel hub as different sizes can result in different angles for the drilled holes... SR

thanks Stew, that was my impression that could be the only difference,i may have a spoke issue, and unlike when i did the front wheel i saved a set of spokes, this time i forgot sometimes you create your problems! Bob

Check the Montesa rim closely, most of them used conical hubs. I laced a rim from a differnet bike onto a XT hub, and learned from a different forum that the hub dimensions, diameter and width must be within 1/2" of each other. Other wise the nipple will not seat properly and the spoke will take a sharp turn as it leaves the nipple. This could lead to fracture. I can post a pic .
