What size threads are the sr500 mirrors?

I think they are 14mm but one of them is a left hand thread. The one on the right I think but someone else will have to confirm that.

The one on the right is indeed left handed threads. This is to prevent the mirror mount from breaking as a result of a gentle fall in that direction. The mirror will simply loosen up instead of over tightening and cracking the mount which is part of the master cylinder assembly - quite expensive to replace.

the right is reverse thead but can buy a adapters to fit standard mirrors, i belive i have a set i'm not using if your interested, Bob

Bizzarre! i could've sworn they were both right hand threads on my bike. Might check that tomorrow......

That explains why I couldn't get the right mirror off. Good thing I didn't put an extension on that wrench. A circular groove around the hex apparently means left hand thread. Ed

That's a coincidence as I only learned the reason for the LH thread 2 days ago myself ( I actually went to buy some new mirrors for my bike) . My master cylinder must've been tapped right as its the same size thread . No worries if I break it I still have 2 spare master cylinders anyway ? Happy Easter to all , Dave .
