I've decided that the stock rear fender on my sr is definately not going back on. I'm puting the fiberglass piece behind the seat back on, but need to figure out some way to protect the wiring/underside of the seat.
I don't have much on the way of metal working tools. Any advice on how to fabricate such a piece?

Cameron I shortened up th e rear fender on my bike recently. It just looked to stodgey hanging all the way around the rear tire! I cut a section out just under the rear of the seat area. About 4" in length if I recall. Then welded the 2 sections back together. I then removed the stock tail light and replaced it with a Bates style tail light. I installed a pair of mini stalk Blinkers as well which helped to lighten up the rear of the bike visually. Here are before and after shots... Where do you live? If you want to ship the fender to me I can take care of this for you. Best regards, Mitch before after

Nice sidecovers there mate , they certainly look better on your bike than my shelf ! Ya think ? Hey Mitch how do you do the pics & put them on the SR site ? I'm a bit ov a caveman when it comes to using these computers . ( I actually lived in denial for a long time too ) . Cheers from Dave .

Thanks Guys, Dave, Thanks for the Side covers! Your Greeting card is going in the mail. I have been using Imageshack for a while with decent results. reg.imageshack.us/ You'll need to register, then I copy and paste photos to the desktop so I can find them easier. (I've got thousands of photos saved in a bunch of different files on the computer) Go to Imageshack's site. Find the link to the right side of the page under "Action" that says "upload image" or something to that effect, click on it and hit the "browse" button in the pop up box to look on your desktop for the pic you want. Click on the photo you want to upload. When the code appears in the box click "upload". A Box will say "Loading", And Magicaly the picture will appear on your Imageshack index page! Click on the pic or the symbols to the right of it, you should see another box with the different codes for different uses. Copy the one titled "Forums" under Embeddable Codes, and past this into your post here. Simple huh? Clear as Mud? If someone has an easier way, let us know! Mitch

Thanks for the info Mitch(Al),I like the cut down rearguard .Did u just cut it down from inside & move it inwards? Reason why I ask is coz I saw a Z900 on a ride last weekend & I started to think "ducktails" . How a DT would look on a SR n your mod would just accompany such a simple mod (I'm not a great fan of the standard SR rear look). I just love the 70s Z900s ! If I could find one for the right price it would nearly complete my quiver . Cheers Dave.

I love the Ducktail look, or no rear fender. The cb750's lok especially good with them.
Go for it.
