I've been looking all over the wild web and can't find any reference to anyone fitting a full TZ (or TZ repro) fairing to an SR. Can't find a thing! Is it possible or is it just the wrong size? I'd like to keep the headlight and the side stand too which would probably mean a bit of cutting. I've seen plenty of bikini fairings but i'm leaning towards fully faired. If it's too hard i'll have to give up and just pop a bikini on.

Hi, A TZ fairing is too short to fit a standard SR...the SR's frame is too deep, like most of the standard fourstroke frames. The DCM I have fits one but it is considerably shorter in height than an SR and it's original design stemmed from an aftermarket TZ frame anyway. Hence the head being buried half way into the underside of the tank. I am not aware of a full race-style fairing that is available here at the moment. There are some Japanese ones...well have a look at them and decide for yourself... There would certainly be a way to fit a fairing and it may involve modifying an existing one to fit the higher frame. There are several racing Ducati fairings around and so on. In my mind you also have to be careful lengthening stuff like this as it can make them look a little strange. Perhaps try Classic Fibreglass at: www.classicmotorcyclefibreglass.com/...or Homebush fibreglass in Sydney or Replico at Maclarenvale in SA. When you start doing this sort of stuff you really need to make something if you want to do a good job. In the US Airtech seems to make some older style race fairings as well. Personally on the SR I prefer the half fairing style, like the Ducati SS fairing on my black bike...or something similar but a little smaller... Have fun. SR

Have a look here for a few ideas... 81.27.97.6/meadspeed/products/There was also a company called Mel Lemoto in the UK back in the early '80's that made a full race-style fairing for the SR...based on their RD ones...but you'd have to see it...hmmm...something about only a mother.... SR
