swing arm seal direction

I see it has little "ramps" molded into it, and a cut or channel in one side - which way goes "out" (i.e. toward the center of the bike)?

I'm tempted to say the ramps are to let grease out from inside while keeping dirt out, so the peak of the ramp should be pointed out.
