gonna put this here cause I don't know where else it would go... :0
Question1. There is a white plastic roller that I assume the chain is supposed to ... well... roll over. Mine is loose on the swingarm. Is that normal?
Question2. How many miles do you guys get out of your chains if you use the bike as a casual rider?
My chain is going to be replaced as... well... it's the origional 29 year old chain and it's got 11,000 miles on it. It recently showed signs of serious stretch and I'll feel comfortable with it replaced, but how long can I expect the new one to last?
(unbelievable, I know, but in 18 years of riding I have never owned a bike with a chain)

Yep, it's suppsed to be loose.
I just put new chains on my bikes... and don't know how many miles to expect myself. I do know a good regimen of cleaning and lubricating can extend chain life quite a bit.

Hi guys,
If you really want to get a decent life from a rear chain I would recommend fitting a Scott Oiler (www.scottoiler.com). I have been running one of the universal models on my SR for the last 6 odd years and the chain has hardly needed adjusting and appears to have hardly worn since fitting about 2 years ago.

New question - Chain is a 530 / 104 right? and rear sprocket is 44 and front is 16 (I'm going 17, but 16 is OEM)

Yep. You may want to buy a few links over, like a 110 or so, and cut to fit. I've read rivet style master link is better than clip style (which may bring on a whole new debate). If you use clip style (I have, and haven't had a problem), make sure and face the closed end of the clip towards the direction of rotation.
