Hey Guys,
I noticed on the YamahaSR500CafeRacer yahoo group that there are some photos there of some Yamaha R6 calipers on SR500 forks.... Has anybody tried this? Do they bolt straight on? Can you still use the original disc if they do bolt straight on? Keen to hear what is involved fitting these because as you would all probably agree the standard brakes are a little on the dodgy side.

Hi, Talk to the guys on the site. The guy who started the site did that mod to his. His bike is the one in the pics. Forget it if you've got wire wheels. I am doing this to one at the moment and it is a problem. I'm hoping a 330mm disc will assist me here. The mod involves an adaptor mount for the R6 caliper and a spacer behind the disc. Not real hard but time consuming. I am still considering doing this to one of mine as I have a couple of these calipers lying around. SR

Hi Holmesboy, try Vanem, new Nissin 6 pot calipers, and 320 mm adaptor kits (caliper adaptor and rotor spacers) for the SR are now in Aus. Will be selling as a kit and as individual parts. Suits early type SR cast wheels and wires.
