I am looking to fit a steering damper to my SR500 - is there an off the shelf option or will I have to modify one?

I'm trying to fit one to my racer and couldn't find any fitting kits. I've bought a cheap new damper off eBay for $45 and buying a 35 mm fork clamp $30 from a UK accessory store www.mandp.com. Their postage is astronomical so I'm getting someone in the UK to post it to me instead. I haven't worked out the frame mounting yet but if anyone has suggestions, I would be interested too. I suspect a steel bracket will need to be attached to the frame downtube.

Hi, Try Deus or Vanem...the Japanese certainly would have kits I reckon. Probably from Daytona. I am going to mount mine under a front fairing bracket, across the front of the bike. I still have a Hyperpro damper left over from my SP1 Honda...hopefully I can make it suit the SR somehow. The old replica Kawasaki types are commonplace and easily fitted, and adjustable; the bolt hole under the lower triple clamp already exists as I recall. You could mount it to the front downtube. I have seen guys use car exhaust clamps as the frame mount on the downtube...I wouldn't do this personally as I prefer to make my own mounts....but it can be easily done... See how you go... SR

The kits are available complete with all the fitting hardware and dampner, the kits we will have in the 3rd-4th week of January are made just for the SR, just bolts on.... By the looks of it they have a Showa dampner?
