hallo robomod
there are only a few tyres designed for both front and rear use. one is the avon roadrunner. i myself would not ride with a fronttyre on the rear unless aproved by the manufacturer.

Thanks for your input Sjef.
I'd like to get some whitewalls on there, but I cant find an 18inch rear in a whitewall, only a front. Usually front and rear tires look different, but these have the same tread pattern on the both. The only difference that I can come up with is that they have different sidewall rigidity.

the differance in f+r tire designe is the way that they are constructed,a front tire is constructed to take load from heavy braking(load shift) and rear tires are layed out the opposite to withstand heavy acceration.unless you plan on putting around i would'nt reccomend it.hope this helps,Bob

Thanks guys- I think I have been looking at chopper mags too long. I saw a bike the other day that had 21" avon speedmasters mounted on the front and rear, and thats what was getting my hopes up.

I have seen it done a few times. What they did was to mount the front on the rear wheel in the REVERSE rotation from normal, as a front tire. Basically, have the arrow point the wrong way for the rear. I don't know how well this worked but, I have seen it done.

Front tires are too rounded to use on the rear where you want a tire that is flatter. They will work but wear out in the center quickly.

Those were IT when I started. VERY triangulated tire. When Yamaha came out with the SR (1978) , those where the tires to have. I never have liked round profile tires. I have always preferred the more triangulated tires. I guess it is all what you get use to.

If it says on the tyre 'rotation' with an arrow it can go either end. If it says 'front' or 'rear' thats where its gotta go.
My mate has a harley. He has got a set of white rubber 'walls' that you fit to the tyre when istalling it. They are just pieces of white rubber that go on the tyres. He just buys normal one and has these fitted. They look the business. I don't have any more info, but I'm sure you could google search for them.
