Does anyone know if I could fit a sweet lookin sportbike rotor on the SR? I'd like to do a Brembo or Nissin caliper, but I need a bigger rotor, and it might as well look cool if I'm going to do it.
Do rotors have lug-patterns like rims?

SR rotors have the same bolt pattern as Yamaha's XS series. Check out the modern light weight rotors @ mikesxs.com

I currently have FJ1200 13"(?) floating discs fitted onto two of my SR's. These discs disc have the same centre diameter and bolt pattern as the SR (and just about every other 70's to 90's yamaha road bike) but they are flat and the original SR disc is dished, so you need to make a spacer to get the disc away from the spokes . I have the disc mounted on the RH side of the wheel as it was easier to make the spacer for this side than to make up one that does not interfere with the speedo drive on the LH side. I an using FJ1200 4 spot calipers on both both bikes as well, these required adaptor plates to be made to fit the calipers onto the SR fork legs. The stopping power has been greatly improve over std even though I am currently using STD mastercylinder on both bike.

Nice CJ- That helps a lot. I'm trying to find compatible stuff from bikes like the FJ to save some cash. Thanks!

I've been interested in this too - I read on a mailing list about using an R6 disc and caliper with pretty simple adapters (3/16" disc spacer and 1/4" caliper adapter he said). I hadn't thought about speedo drive interference, good point.
Are these more modern discs (FZR, R6, etc) significantly lighter?

I have a pair of Ducati 320mm discs that I believe will bolt up to SR500 hubs. I do know that they don't have the same amount of offset as a stock disc. Only 6mm. I know the bolt pattern is the same, just not sure about the center hole. Anyone know what that dimension is?

I put a 750 Seca wheel on the front with 2 rotors. They are the same diameter but thinner and better looking.

Most of the FZR 250/400/600/1000 from the 90's fit the bolt pattern but you need to space them out from the rim.
